Premanand ne Pagle Pagle…, Balvant Parekh Vyapak Anvayvichar Yatra: Vadodara, Surat and Nandurbar, 7 – 11 February 2015

Inaugural session

One of the basic insights of General Semantics is that of binding or connectivity. Time Binding is seen by Korzybski as a distinctive human ability. With this in view, the Sapta Setu Movement participated in a major event of the Central Sahitya Akademi, exploring the cultural geography and cultural history of Gujarat.

The Yatra

Thus, as part of a five day program on the 17th century Gujarati poet, Premanand, who travelled from Vadodara in Central Gujarat, to Surat in South Gujarat, to Nandurbar in Khandesh in Maharashtra, Sapta Setu organized an explorative journey, Balvant Parekh Vyapak Anvayvichar Yatra, to trace the linkage and space-binding that was established in geography in the 17th century and time-binding that links the poet's work to our own times. The idea was to reinforce the intercultural association and assimilation which had prevailed in the times of Premanand and continues till our own times. The Yatra was joined by teachers, professors, students of various colleges across Gujarat.
